Innovative In-Field Solutions for Animal Health Monitoring

In the United States, ICASA has awarded grants to develop rapid, in-field tools for animal health monitoring. The overuse of antibiotics in livestock—stemming from delayed disease detection—accelerates antimicrobial resistance and poses a severe public health risk. These advancements are vital to safeguarding both animal and human well-being.

Partnerships for Equity

Many collaborations exist between health organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that play a pivotal role in advancing equitable healthcare access worldwide. The most notable partnerships include:

UHC2030: This global platform unites diverse stakeholders to accelerate progress toward universal health coverage (UHC). Co-hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), UHC2030 emphasizes principles such as equity, transparency, and accountability to strengthen health systems globally.

Healthcare Information For All (HIFA): HIFA is a global campaign and community of practice comprising health professionals, publishers, librarians, technologists, researchers, policymakers, and patient representatives. Its mission is to improve the availability and use of reliable healthcare information worldwide, thereby enhancing healthcare outcomes, especially in low-resource settings.

HealthRight International: Formerly known as Doctors of the World-USA, HealthRight International is a global health organization based in New York City. It works to guarantee that marginalized communities have equitable access to healthcare, operating at the intersection of public health and human rights. HealthRight has implemented projects in over 30 countries, focusing on ensuring marginalized populations have access to social, health, and mental services.

These collaborations exemplify the concerted efforts of health organizations and NGOs to address disparities in healthcare access, striving for a more equitable global health landscape.

Equity Challenges and Solutions

Zoonotic Disease Transmission (Animal Health) is a real-world challenge public health professionals and healthcare providers face in promoting equity and proposed solutions that can use our technology.

Challenge: Pathogens such as avian influenza, brucellosis, and rabies can jump from animals to humans, posing significant public health risks.

Impact: Delayed or inaccurate detection exacerbates outbreaks, endangering animal and human populations alike.

Our Solution: harnesses rapid, point-of-care molecular detection technology designed for early identification of emerging threats in livestock and wildlife. By delivering immediate, actionable insights, this innovative platform minimizes the risk of zoonotic transmission and bolsters proactive health management across diverse environments.
